Cette œuvre transforme un dessin enfantin très simple en une scène lumineuse relevant de l’art naïf, où l’innocence devient le véritable langage plastique. Le fond sombre agit comme une scène nocturne et permet aux lignes colorées de briller avec une intensité presque fluorescente. À gauche, le grand soleil souriant constitue le centre émotionnel de la composition. Il n’est pas représenté comme un astre réaliste, mais comme une présence amicale. Son visage rond, ses yeux de couleurs différentes, son sourire doux et ses rayons multicolores expriment la chaleur, la curiosité et la joie.
